Frequently Asked Questions

What is an ISRC code?
ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) is a 12-character alphanumeric code that uniquely identifies a sound recording. Format: CC-XXX-YY-NNNNN (Country code, Registrant code, Year, Designation number). Every commercial recording should have one.
What is a UPC code?
UPC (Universal Product Code) is a barcode used to identify physical products. In music, a Single UPC identifies an album or single release, while the ISRC identifies individual tracks within that release.
Why can't I find an ISRC for some tracks?
Not all tracks have ISRC codes in public databases. Indian and regional music may have limited coverage on free APIs. Spotify has the most comprehensive ISRC database but requires a Premium subscription for API access.
Which data source should I use?
For free access, start with Apple Music — it has good coverage for most tracks. If you need comprehensive ISRC data (especially for regional music), Spotify with Premium is the best option. MusicBrainz is great as a free fallback.
Is this tool free to use?
Yes, this tool is completely free. Apple Music and MusicBrainz lookups work without any account. Spotify lookups require the app owner to ha ve an active Premium subscription.
